Suitable For: 3 - 4 years old
Estimated Time: 15 - 30 mins
Physical - Fine motor skills, pincer/palmar grasps when holding the pictures.
Intellectual - Identifying the different items mentioned in the story.
Emotional - Engagement will be ensured in the activity.
Social - Able to take turns.
Draw and print the food items that are found in the book. Cut the shape of the food items using scissors.
Distribute the food items to the child/children.
Read the story. As you read, get the child or children to come up to feed the caterpillar. For instance, “on Tuesday, he ate 2 pears! Who is holding on to the pears? Come and feed the caterpillar! Alright, let’s count 1… 2…. pears.”
The Very Hungry Caterpillar Book
Cut a hole (big enough for the hand to go through) in the middle. Use glue to paste the plastic eyes on the tip of the sock.
Put the sock inside your hand and tell the child/children that they are going to feed the hungry caterpillar according to the story.
Complete reading the story.
