The Enabling Village tour for School directors

Updated: Dec 29, 2021

Together with Samsui Kitchen and SG Enable, we hosted a group of Preschool educators and directors for a guided tour around The Enabling Village which is located at 20 Lengkok Bahru, on 18th October 2019.

The Enabling Village is Singapore’s newest Integrated Community space. The place helps people with special needs to develop and improve their employabilities through the trainings and workshops available.

The purpose of the tour was to bring the school directors around and give them a better understanding of what the Enabling Village is all about.

They were brought to all four building zones that are available at the Enabling Village. At each of the zones, they learned what the different zones had to offer.

They are able to gain a deeper understanding and see for themselves how our differently-abled friends are involved in the production process of many companies located within The Enabling Village. There is also the Tech block which showcases technologies that are created to assist people with disabilities in their daily living. Also, they visited a retail outlet named The Art Faculty where they are able to admire and show support by buying products that were made and designed by the clients at the village themselves.

The Highlight of the tour is when the school directors were brought to the Samsui Kitchen for a sharing session on how the company provides training and employment opportunities for people with disabilities.

They also had a taste test on the bento set that is available for schools to order for their school meals or any future events.

It was definitely a pleasant and informative tour. We would like to thank the Enabling Village team, for giving us the opportunity to bring the school directors around the village and give them a chance to understand the village better. If you have a chance, do drop by the Enabling Village and see what the village has to offer for yourself and visit the retail outlet to support the clients at the Enabling Village.
