My Pet House

Create a house for a soft-toy pet. Teach your child that taking care of a pet is a huge responsibility.

Skill Level: Intermediate Suitable For: 4 - 5 years old Estimated Time: > 30 mins Environment: Indoors

Materials:

• Tissue box

• Cardboard box

• A soft-toy animal

• Drawing paper

• Paper cup

• Double-sided tape

• Pencil

• Ruler

• Marker

• Glue stick

• Scissors

• Coloured paper

Step 1:

Let your child select a soft toy that he/she wants to keep as a pet.

Step 2:

To create the roof, draw a “x” on the box. And cut along the lines.

Step 3:

Cut the cardboard box and fold it into half.

Step 4:

Assist your child to cut a hole on one side of the cardboard box.

Step 5:

Wrap the cardboard box based on the colours that your child select. You can also choose to paint it.

Step 6:

Tear the coloured paper into pieces and decorate the roof.

Step 7:

Use the double-sided tape to secure the roof.

Step 8:

Create food tray with the paper cup. Get your child to draw on the coloured paper and cut out food that your child wants to put into the food tray.

Step 9:

Place the soft toy animal into the box together with its food tray. Role play with your child on how he/she can take care of his/her “pet”.
