Sort Me Out!

This activity will allow kids to develop their pre-math skills and introduce to them the concept of sorting.

Materials

Step 1
Print 6 sets of the following animals: elephant, lion, bear, zebra and giraffe. Then laminate all the images.

Step 3
Stick some blue tack onto the cup.

Cups
Ice-cream sticks
Pictures of animals (use plastic animals as an alternative)
Blue tack
Scissors
Plastic laminate
Step 2
Cut out the animals with scissors and attach them (five sets) on ice cream sticks by using blue tack (one animal to one stick).

Step 4
Get the child to select an animal (not attached to the ice cream stick) and paste it onto the cup. If the child picks a giraffe for example, the cup will be “labelled” with the picture of the giraffe. The child has to sort and pick up all the giraffes and place it in the cup. Repeat steps 4 and 5 using different
animals.
