What You Will Need

  • Used plastic lid (like the lid from a margarine tub)

  • Drinking straw

  • Scissors

  • Coloured paper

  • Washi tapes

  • A big tub of water

Boats are used for work and play. Boats transport us from one place to another. Boats move at different speeds.

Step 1

Gather the materials.

Cut a triangle from a piece of construction paper. (This will be your sail). You can decorate the sail with washi tapes or other materials.

Cut the straw

step 4

Prepare 4 strips of washi tape and cut 2 of them into thinner strips.

step 5

Cut the end of the straw like in the picture and secure the straw with the thinner strips.

step 6

Secure the sail with the remaining 2 washi tape strips and you are ready for a sailboat race in the tub!
