AECES and Preschool Market are honoured to be collaborating on this SG50 Celebration Fund project – Celebrate the memories of our preschool days - <My Kindergarten Teacher and I>. We started our call for submissions in end September and were encouraged by the public and schools who shared their precious memories with us. Many thanks to all who sent in their memories and also to Singapore Memory Project for the use of the photos in their database.
With the memories collected, we devised 3 memorabilia, - a photobook, a video and a photowall - each with its own unique angle on the walk down the memory lane.
It was a heartwarming afternoon where old friends gathered and ties were renewed. Our Guest of Honour, Mrs Yu-Foo Yee Shoon shared from her own experience as a veteran in the field and exhorted the teachers to continue the good work they are doing. We are very moved by her passion as she came for the event in spite of a fractured leg.
Indeed, this project evoked our fond memories and love for our kindergarten teachers who have made an impact in our lives. From the stories shared, we saw how preschool teachers built a strong foundation for our children and us; they not only imparted academic knowledge but also the values and learning dispositions that are important for successful lives.
As Mr Eugene Leong said in his Foreword, “ (we) hope that these shared stories will touch the hearts of many, and inspire more passionate educators to join the sector to give our children a good start.”
If any of you have a good story on preschools to share, please write to us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you would like to have a PDF copy of the book, please sign up for our mailing list.
Preschool Market is very honoured to be invited to Jurong Christian Church Kindergarten's 37th Graduation Ceremony cum Concert last Saturday.
Deputy Prime Minister Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam was the Guest of Honour, and he graced the occasion with an opening speech. DPM Mr Tharman shared that it is very important to give our children the right confidence, and as parents, we must give them many experiences to learn and try. We must allow the children to do things that we are scared to do and allow them to say things that we are scared to say. We must not force our children to follow the rules all the time, but allow them to break the rules. In Singapore, we are too rigid mental mind of our own, personality of our own; Singapore's future will be a good one with children growing up with strong values, own personalities and confidence.
The children from Gentleness (AM and PM) and Faithfulness (AM and PM) put up a series of great performance for parents, guests and their teachers!
Congratulations to the Classes of
